Yes — for dogs. Ley 7/2023 requires all dog owners in Spain to hold civil liability insurance. This is separate from vet fees cover. Our Liability Only plan at €80/yr satisfies the legal requirement for one dog. Multiple dogs can be added. Cats do not currently require liability cover under the law, but vet fees plans are available for them too.

Generali's Vet Fees + Liability plan covers emergency treatment, surgery, diagnostics, and hospitalisation up to the annual limit (€3,000–€6,000 depending on the plan chosen). Routine and preventive treatments such as vaccinations and neutering are not covered. Conditions that existed before the policy start date are excluded during the qualifying period. Yes. Dogs brought from the UK can be insured in Spain provided they are microchipped and have a valid pet passport (or equivalent documentation post-Brexit).
