Book a Discovery Call →Turner Insurance Specialists has been Spain's trusted insurance partner for British, Irish and international expats since 2013. Founded by Andrew Turner — in insurance since 2001 and registered with the Spanish Dirección General de Seguros (DGS Registry C0467B54657010) — we are an authorised exclusive Generali agent with access to specialist lines through our partner network.
Clients trust us with their health, life, home, motor and business cover because we explain insurance clearly in English and stand by them at claim time.
We are now opening our doors to like-minded professional partners who serve the same expat audience. Whether you simply want to refer your clients for English-speaking insurance advice, or build a deeper, regulated commercial relationship that pays you renewal commission for years, we have a programme that fits your business and your qualifications.
The referral route is ideal if you serve expats in Spain but do not handle insurance directly and do not want the regulatory responsibilities of insurance mediation. You simply introduce your client to us — by phone, email, WhatsApp or a tracked referral link — and we handle the entire insurance conversation from first contact through quote, policy issue and claim.
You retain the client relationship for your core service. We pay an introducer commission on every policy successfully placed, with no monthly minimum and no obligation. No insurance qualification is required for referrals because you never see the client's insurance data, financial details or medical history — those flow directly between the client and our regulated team.
The active collaborator route is for licensed insurance professionals or other regulated advisers who want to participate in advising the client, processing applications and earning ongoing renewal commission.
Active collaborators have direct contact with policy data, medical history (where relevant for health and life products) and bank-account information for payment setup — all of which are personal data under the Reglamento General de Protección de Datos (RGPD/GDPR) and Ley Orgánica 3/2018. Because of this we require full insurance and data-protection qualifications before granting access — see below.
To handle insurance client data on our platform, every active collaborator must hold a UK Chartered Insurance Institute Certificate (Cert CII) at Level 3 — or the Spanish DGS-recognised equivalent (Curso Superior de Seguros, 200 hours minimum) plus the agent registration that follows. The Cert CII is the recognised entry-level qualification for insurance broking in the UK and is widely accepted in Spain when paired with DGS Registry.
Holders of the Diploma CII (Level 4) and APFS (Level 6) are of course welcome — and qualify for our higher commission tier. If you don't yet hold the qualification but want to start the route, we can recommend the CII online study path (typically 6–9 months part-time) and the Spanish Curso Superior providers we work with.
On top of the technical insurance qualification, every active collaborator must operate within RGPD/GDPR. That means: a written Contrato de Encargado de Tratamiento (data-processing agreement) with us; secure handling of client data (encryption in transit and at rest, no client data on personal devices);
a defined retention policy aligned with Spanish insurance contract law (Ley 50/1980 — typically 6 years post-policy-end); breach notification to the AEPD within 72 hours under RGPD Article 33; and an annual compliance refresher. We provide the data-processing agreement template and a compliance checklist to all active collaborators at onboarding.
For partners who wish to issue policies under their own name, you need to be registered as an insurance agent or broker (Mediador de Seguros) with the DGS. This requires a clean professional record, the Curso Superior qualification, professional indemnity insurance of at least €1,300,380 (the regulatory minimum) and continuing education compliance. We can advise on the registration process and connect you with the right Spanish college (Colegio de Mediadores) for your region.
Our partnership programme is designed for professionals who already serve expats and want to add a high-trust, English-speaking insurance offering to their service. The most successful partners we work with come from these sectors:
Spanish administrative professionals helping expats with NIE, residencia, autónomo registration, taxes and business setup typically encounter the question "how do I get health insurance for my visa?" almost weekly. We provide visa-compliant Generali Salud Opción Premium and Generali EXPAT Medcare certificates within 24–48 hours, freeing your gestoría to focus on the paperwork you specialise in.
Many British and Irish expats ask their solicitor for life-insurance recommendations when buying property in Spain — particularly for inheritance-tax planning around ISD (Impuesto sobre Sucesiones y Donaciones). We offer term, decreasing-term and whole-of-life cover up to age 69 with English-language documentation and consult on beneficiary structures.
Buyers need home insurance on completion (most lenders require buildings cover) and often life insurance tied to the mortgage. We can issue home cover the same day for completion, and decreasing-term life policies in 5–10 working days — keeping your client's sale on track.
Spanish mortgage lenders typically require buildings insurance and life-insurance assignment. We handle both with the right structure for the lender and the client, including coordinating policy assignment paperwork.
Removals companies, relocation specialists, language schools and concierge services all see clients before they fully understand the Spanish insurance landscape. A single tracked referral link integrates with your client onboarding and earns you commission for years.
Autónomo and SL clients need professional indemnity, employer accident cover (Convenio Colectivo), business interruption and tax-deductible private health cover (€500/employee under Ley 35/2006 IRPF). We work with Spanish accountancy firms to deliver coordinated business-cover programmes for their book.
Our commission structure is competitive and transparent.
Full commission schedules are shared at the start of the partnership conversation, under NDA where appropriate. Our schedule is benchmarked against the Spanish DGS reported industry averages and we are confident it sits among the most generous offered to expat-focused partners on the Costa Blanca.
