Book a Discovery Call →Why Partner With Turner Insurance Specialists
Turner Insurance Specialists has been Spain's trusted insurance partner for British, Irish and international expats since 2013. It was founded by Andrew Turner, who has over 25 years of insurance experience and is registered with the Spanish Dirección General de Seguros (DGS Registry C0467B54657010). We are an authorised exclusive Generali agent with access to specialist lines through our partner network.
Clients trust us with their health, life, home, motor and business cover because we explain insurance clearly in English and stand by them at claim time.
We are now opening our doors to like-minded professional partners who serve the same expat audience. Maybe you just want to refer clients for English-speaking insurance advice. Or maybe you want a deeper, regulated relationship that pays you renewal commission for years. Either way, we have a programme to fit your business and your qualifications.
Two Ways to Collaborate
Referral Programme. Light-Touch
The referral route is ideal if you serve expats but do not handle insurance yourself. It also suits you if you do not want the regulatory duties of insurance mediation. You simply introduce your client to us. You can do this by phone, email, WhatsApp or a tracked referral link. We then handle the whole insurance conversation, from first contact through quote, policy issue and claim.
You keep the client relationship for your core service. We pay an introducer commission on every policy successfully placed, with no monthly minimum and no obligation. No insurance qualification is needed for referrals. This is because you never see the client's insurance data, financial details or medical history. Those flow directly between the client and our regulated team.
Active Collaborator. Full Partnership
The active collaborator route is for licensed insurance professionals or other regulated advisers who want to participate in advising the client, processing applications and earning ongoing renewal commission.
Active collaborators have direct contact with policy data, medical history (where relevant for health and life products) and bank-account information for payment setup. All of this is personal data under the Reglamento General de Protección de Datos (RGPD/GDPR) and Ley Orgánica 3/2018. So we need full insurance and data-protection qualifications before granting access. See below.
Required Qualifications
UK Cert CII Level 3 (or Spanish DGS Equivalent)
To handle insurance client data on our platform, every active collaborator must hold a UK Chartered Insurance Institute Certificate (Cert CII) at Level 3. The Spanish DGS-recognised equivalent also counts. That is the Curso Superior de Seguros (200 hours minimum) plus the agent registration that follows. The Cert CII is the recognised entry-level qualification for insurance broking in the UK. It is widely accepted in Spain when paired with DGS Registry.
Holders of the Diploma CII (Level 4) and APFS (Level 6) are of course welcome. They also qualify for our higher commission tier. You may not yet hold the qualification but want to start the route. If so, we can recommend the CII online study path (typically 6–9 months part-time) and the Spanish Curso Superior providers we work with.
RGPD / GDPR Data-Protection Compliance
On top of the insurance qualification, every active collaborator must work within RGPD/GDPR. That means:
- A written Contrato de Encargado de Tratamiento (data-processing agreement) with us
- Secure handling of client data — encryption in transit and at rest, and no client data on personal devices
- A set retention policy under Spanish insurance contract law (Ley 50/1980 — usually 6 years after the policy ends)
- Breach notification to the AEPD within 72 hours, under RGPD Article 33
- An annual compliance refresher
We give every active collaborator the data-processing agreement template and a compliance checklist at onboarding.
Spanish DGS Registration
To issue policies under your own name, you must be registered as an insurance agent or broker (Mediador de Seguros) with the DGS. This requires:
- A clean professional record
- The Curso Superior qualification
- Professional indemnity insurance of at least €1,300,380 (the regulatory minimum)
- Continuing-education compliance
We can guide you through the registration process and connect you with the right Spanish college (Colegio de Mediadores) for your region.
Who Should Collaborate With Us
Our partnership programme is designed for professionals who already serve expats. It suits those who want to add a high-trust, English-speaking insurance offering to their service. The most successful partners we work with come from these sectors:
Gestores and Asesorías
Spanish administrative professionals help expats with NIE, residencia, autónomo registration, taxes and business setup. They typically hear the question "how do I get health insurance for my visa?" almost weekly. We offer visa-compliant Generali Salud Opción Premium and Generali EXPAT Medcare certificates within 24–48 hours. This frees your gestoría to focus on the paperwork you specialise in.
Solicitors and Legal Practices
Many British and Irish expats ask their solicitor for life-insurance recommendations when buying property in Spain. This is often for inheritance-tax planning around ISD (Impuesto sobre Sucesiones y Donaciones). We offer term, decreasing-term and whole-of-life cover up to age 69 with English-language documentation. We also consult on beneficiary structures.
Real Estate Agents
Buyers need home insurance on completion (most lenders require buildings cover). They often need life insurance tied to the mortgage too. We can issue home cover the same day for completion. We can issue decreasing-term life policies in 5–10 working days. This keeps your client's sale on track.
Mortgage Brokers
Spanish mortgage lenders typically require buildings insurance and life-insurance assignment. We handle both with the right structure for the lender and the client. We also coordinate the policy assignment paperwork.
Expat Services Providers
Removals companies, relocation specialists, language schools and concierge services all see clients early. They meet them before they fully understand the Spanish insurance landscape. A single tracked referral link fits into your client onboarding. It then earns you commission for years.
Accountants and Fiscal Advisers
Autónomo and SL clients need several products. These are professional indemnity, employer accident cover (Convenio Colectivo), business interruption and tax-deductible private health cover (€500/employee under Ley 35/2006 IRPF). We work with Spanish accountancy firms to deliver coordinated business-cover programmes for their book.
Commission Structure
Our commission structure is competitive and transparent.
- Referral commission — a one-off introducer fee on each successfully placed policy, calculated as a percentage of the first-year premium, paid against an electronic invoice from your business.
- Renewal commission — paid annually for the full life of each renewing policy. This means active collaborators benefit from long-term client relationships, not just first-year acquisition. Health, life and motor lines pay the highest renewal rates (our health book averages 6+ years retention).
- Tiered rates — partners with Diploma CII (Level 4), APFS (Level 6) or significant book-of-business move into a higher commission tier with enhanced renewal percentages.
- Performance bonuses — volume bonuses on top of base commission for the most active partners.
Full commission schedules are shared at the start of the partnership conversation, under NDA where appropriate. Our schedule is benchmarked against the Spanish DGS reported industry averages. We are confident it sits among the most generous offered to expat-focused partners on the Costa Blanca.
