If you hold a Liberty Seguros policy in Spain — car, home, life or business — it is now a Generali policy in all but the name on your old documents. Generali completed its acquisition of Liberty Seguros in 2024 and finished the legal merger in 2025, and the consumer brand is now GeneraliON. Your cover continues exactly as before; the main practical change is who you call for assistance and claims. This page explains what happened, what (if anything) you need to do, and the current numbers to keep handy.

The short version

  • Liberty Seguros is now part of Generali — the consumer brand is GeneraliON. Acquisition completed 2024; full legal merger completed November 2025.
  • Your policy is unaffected. Existing Liberty policies are honoured on their current terms and roll onto Generali at renewal — you do not need to do anything.
  • Current Generali assistance & claims line: 900 903 433 or 911 123 443, 24 hours, 365 days.
  • Roadside assistance (asistencia en carretera) runs on the same numbers, or by WhatsApp on 654 03 36 29.
  • We can help in English. As an exclusive Generali agent, Turner Insurance can check your former-Liberty policy, handle renewals and quote alternatives — call 966 461 625.

What happened to Liberty Seguros

In June 2023, Generali agreed to buy Liberty Seguros from the American group Liberty Mutual — a deal worth around €2.3 billion, the largest Generali acquisition in a decade. The purchase completed in 2024, bringing Liberty's business in Spain, Portugal, Ireland and Northern Ireland into the Generali group.

Generali then merged the former Liberty company into Generali Espana de Seguros y Reaseguros, S.A., completing the legal integration in November 2025. The customer-facing brand that replaced Liberty Seguros is GeneraliON. So a policy you may still think of as "Liberty" is, today, a Generali product administered by Generali.

For Generali this strengthened its position as one of the largest insurers in Spain. For you as a policyholder, the takeaway is simpler: the company standing behind your policy is now Generali — a long-established international insurer — and the cover you bought continues unchanged.

What it means for your policy

The reassuring part first: a change of owner does not change the terms of a policy that is already in force. Under Spanish insurance law your contract runs to its agreed end date on its agreed conditions, regardless of who owns the insurer. In practice:

The one thing worth doing is making sure your contact and payment details are current, and knowing which number to call — which is what the rest of this page covers.

Liberty / Generali phone numbers

These are the current Generali Espana customer numbers — the lines to use whether your policy still says Liberty or already says Generali. They are taken from Generali's official contact page.

Still got an old Liberty number? Liberty's long-standing freephone roadside line, 900 101 369, was kept operative through the integration, so if it is printed on your policy it should still connect you to assistance. Going forward, save the Generali numbers above — and always check the number printed on your own policy schedule, as it takes priority over any general line.

Roadside assistance (asistencia en carretera)

If you break down or have an accident, call the assistance line — 900 903 433 or 911 123 443 — or request a tow truck (grúa) by WhatsApp on 654 03 36 29. Have your policy number, vehicle registration and location ready. The service runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year, in Spain; from abroad use +34 911 123 443.

Not sure what your motor policy actually includes for breakdown, courtesy cars or recovery? It depends on the cover level. Our car insurance in Spain page explains the Generali motor ranges, and our guide on what to do after a car accident in Spain walks through the steps at the scene.

Making a claim (siniestros)

Claims on a former-Liberty policy are now handled by Generali. You can start a claim on the assistance line above, by email to siniestros.es@generali.com, or — the easiest route for English speakers — through us: as your agent we log the claim, translate where needed and chase it for you. See our insurance claims page, or for motor specifically, how a car insurance claim works in Spain.

Spanish insurance law (Ley 50/1980) sets clear duties on both sides: notify the insurer promptly — within seven days of becoming aware of a loss — and the insurer must begin settlement within 40 days. Keeping evidence (photos, the parte amistoso for road accidents, receipts) makes the process faster.

At renewal: your options

When a former-Liberty policy comes up for renewal it moves onto a Generali product. That is a good moment to check the price and cover are still right for you rather than letting it roll automatically. As an exclusive Generali agent, Turner Insurance can:

There is no obligation and no charge for a review — see our car, home and health insurance pages, or just get in touch.

Frequently asked questions

Not as a separate company. Liberty Seguros was acquired by Generali (completed in 2024) and legally merged into Generali Espana de Seguros y Reaseguros, S.A. in November 2025. The consumer brand is now GeneraliON. Existing Liberty policies continue and are administered by Generali.

Use the Generali assistance and claims line: 900 903 433 or 911 123 443, 24 hours a day, every day. From outside Spain, call +34 911 123 443. Liberty's old freephone line (900 101 369) was kept operative through the transition, but the Generali numbers are the ones to save — and always check the number printed on your own policy.

Roadside assistance runs on the main Generali line, 900 903 433 / 911 123 443, or you can request a tow truck (grúa) by WhatsApp on 654 03 36 29. It operates 24 hours, 365 days a year in Spain; from abroad use +34 911 123 443.

Not while it is in force. A change of owner does not alter an existing contract — your sums insured, excesses and guarantees stand until renewal. At renewal the policy moves onto a Generali product, where you may see updated branding, documentation and (on some lines) a refreshed structure. We are happy to review yours before you renew.

No. You do not need to cancel, re-buy or take any action to stay covered — there is no gap to plug. It is worth confirming your contact and payment details are current, and saving the Generali assistance number. If you would like someone to check the policy in English, that is exactly what we do.

Claims are now handled by Generali. Call 900 903 433 / 911 123 443, email siniestros.es@generali.com, or let us handle it for you — as your agent we log, translate and chase the claim. Notify promptly (within seven days of becoming aware of a loss under Ley 50/1980), and keep photos and receipts.

Yes. GeneraliON is the consumer brand that replaced Liberty Seguros following the integration; the insurer behind it is Generali Espana de Seguros y Reaseguros, S.A. — part of the international Generali group.
