A challenging year for any community sport — but the Javea Bowls Club championship was completed, and Turner Insurance was proud to sponsor again.

2020 was a difficult year for any community sport on the Costa Blanca. Restrictions on gatherings, travel and indoor venues made many local clubs scale back or postpone their fixtures. The Javea Bowls Club, like many others, adapted as the year unfolded — and the championship finals were completed despite the disruption.
Continuing the Sponsorship
Turner Insurance Specialists continued our sponsorship of the Javea Bowls Club championship in 2020 — our fourth consecutive year supporting the club. In a year when many smaller community organisations were struggling to maintain their fixtures and their finances, this kind of multi-year continuity matters more than ever.
The Championship
The championship report was published in the club's regular newsletter at the end of 2020, with results from the Mixed Pairs, Mixed Triples, and Men's and Ladies' Singles finals at the Inn on the Green. Photographs and the full report were circulated by the club's match secretary to members.
Community Sponsorship — Common Questions
Yes. Although the Javea Bowls Club has now closed, our community support continues. We backed the club's championship every year from 2017 through its later seasons, and since 2018 we have been a regular supporter of the Javea Christmas Fayres, which raise funds for the Friends of the Children of EMAÚS. Our focus stays on small, local Marina Alta causes rather than large national campaigns.
The club — long based at the Inn on the Green between Javea and Benitachell — eventually closed after almost two decades of activity. At its peak it had more than 150 members across nine rinks, drawn from the British, Irish, Northern European and Australian communities of the northern Costa Blanca. We were proud to sponsor it through to its later years.
