About Mojácar

Mojácar lies at the southern end of the Costa de Almería, 2 hours from Almería city and approximately 1 hour from the Murcia-Corvera airport. The nearest service towns are Vera (8 km north, with a full commercial district) and Garrucha (8 km, with a fishing port and marina). The surrounding landscape is classic Almanzora/coastal Almería — dry sierra, dry ramblas, and the dramatic contrast of the blue Mediterranean against ochre and white hillsides.

The Mojácar Playa strip runs south from the town towards the Marina de la Torre residential and golf complex, which has its own beach and facilities. The Rambla de Mojácar runs between the pueblo and the playa — normally dry, but subject to flash flooding during DANA events.

Local Insurance Considerations in Mojácar

• Rambla de Mojácar — flash flood risk: the Rambla de Mojácar runs between the pueblo and the playa and is subject to violent flash flooding during DANA gota fría events. Properties near the rambla channel require a correctly structured policy that activates Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros for natural catastrophe flooding.
• Pueblo vs. playa — different property types: hilltop pueblo houses (thick stone walls, terraced gardens, steep access) have very different rebuild costs and access considerations from modern playa apartments and villas.
