Generali Studying-Abroad (Viajes Estudios) Travel Insurance Policy Conditions (English Translation)

An English translation of the Generali Viajes Estudios conditions — travel cover for students, teachers and monitors on courses and work placements.

⚠️ Important — please read. This is an AI translation produced on 5 June 2026 and is provided as a guide only to help English-speaking clients understand the cover. The policy wording may be amended by Generali at any stage. In the event of any legal dispute, the original Spanish version is the only binding text — please refer to it. The official document this translates is Generali Viajes Estudios — Condiciones Generales (ref. AV 002, edition G51826, 10/2025).

These are the General Conditions of the Generali Viajes Estudios insurance — travel-assistance cover designed for study and work-placement trips. The insured persons can be students, teachers and monitors whose habitual home is in Spain. They are completed by your Particular Conditions, which confirm the cover level, sums insured, the period and the territorial scope.

Part of the Generali travel range. For the full, article-by-article guarantee detail (which this product shares), see our Viajero travel conditions. See also the Multi-trip (Multiviaje), Annual Premium and Cancellation conditions, or the travel insurance hub.

Insurer: GENERALI España S.A. de Seguros y Reaseguros · Product: Viajes Estudios (AV 002) · Edition: 10/2025 (ref. G51826)

Part 1 — Cover for study trips

Information Clause ↑ top

This clause fulfils the insurer's duty to inform under Law 20/2015 and RD 1060/2015. Insurer: GENERALI España S.A. de Seguros y Reaseguros, Pl. de Manuel Gómez-Moreno 5, 28020 Madrid. Supervisor: the DGSFP. Complaints: Generali's Claims & Complaints Service (reclamaciones.es@generali.com), then the DGSFP. Applicable law: Law 50/1980 and related rules; Spanish law and jurisdiction, before the courts of the Insured's domicile in Spain.

Object & who is covered ↑ top

The policy guarantees travel-assistance cover during a course and/or work-placement trip, for a chance event, away from the habitual home, within the territorial scope and during the contracted period. It includes all the trips the insured makes during the covered course/placement. Cover ends once the trip is finished and the insured has returned home.

  • Who is insured: students, teachers and/or monitors named in the Particular Conditions, with a habitual home in Spain.
  • Temporary accommodation: the policy works around your Alojamiento Temporal (the residence or lodging where you stay during the course) rather than a hotel.
  • Inbound students ("Receptivo"): the policy can also cover trips to Spain where the insured's home is abroad — in that case, wherever the conditions say "Spain", it means the insured's own country of origin.

Cover built for students ↑ top

Alongside the standard travel guarantees, the Estudios policy adds features that matter on a long study trip:

  • Enhanced cover for minors. If an insured minor is hospitalised, Generali arranges and pays for two people to travel from the home country (from the 2nd day of hospitalisation, rather than the 5th), and for their stay; and, if a minor must remain in the accommodation on medical advice without a close relative present, for a person to come and stay with them.
  • Early return for studies. The early-return cover takes account of the course — for example where at least 30 days of the stay remain, or where you have to sit an essential exam to obtain your qualification.
  • Course-fee indemnity. If the person you depend on financially dies in an accident and you continue an unfunded (non-grant) course, Generali indemnifies the outstanding, unpaid course fees (nothing is payable if the course is already paid in full).
  • Extended companion & stay cover while you are hospitalised away from home, and a 24-hour information service (tourist, administrative, medical, vaccination and local-conditions information).

The guarantees (summary) ↑ top

The Estudios cover provides the same core guarantee framework as the rest of the Generali travel range, adapted for study trips:

  • Medical & repatriation assistance — medical, surgical, hospital, pharmacy and emergency dental costs; medical transport and repatriation; extension of stay in your temporary accommodation on medical advice (up to 14 days); repatriation of mortal remains.
  • Travel incidents & disruption, baggage & documents, information & legal services abroad, private civil liability, and personal accident (death & disability).

Pre-existing conditions are excluded unless the optional Pre-existing module is held (a vital emergency is still assisted). For the full clause-by-clause detail of each shared guarantee, see our Viajero travel conditions.

Sports & activities ↑ top

Recreational sports are covered where you take part as an amateur (unpaid), it is not the purpose of the trip, not in competition, not above 4,000 m altitude or below set diving depths, and the activity is not dangerous/high-risk or expressly excluded. Combat and high-impact sports — boxing, weightlifting, wrestling, karate, kickboxing, Muay Thai, judo and similar martial arts — are excluded.

Part 2 — Exclusions, Consorcio & claims

General exclusions ↑ top

Unless a guarantee expressly includes it, the policy does not cover events before it started; fraud; travel to countries your government advises against; preventive check-ups, spa cures, cosmetic surgery and trips whose purpose is to receive treatment; participating as a professional in sport and the consequences of winter sports; war, riots, terrorism and strikes (except where a guarantee says otherwise); nuclear radiation; and natural catastrophes and extraordinary events (covered by the Consorcio). The full list matches the Viajero general exclusions.

Extraordinary risks (Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros) ↑ top

Losses from extraordinary events in Spain (earthquakes, tsunamis, extraordinary floods, volcanic eruptions, atypical cyclonic storm, falling meteorites; terrorism, rebellion, riot; and acts of the Armed/Security Forces in peacetime) are indemnified by the public Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros, funded by a surcharge collected with your premium, under Royal Legislative Decree 7/2004 and RD 300/2004.

How to claim, your rights & complaints ↑ top

24-hour travel assistance: 900 903 326 (from Spain) or +34 91 514 99 62 (from abroad). Report theft to the police and keep all receipts and proof of the event. Premium is payable when the policy is taken out. Cancellation rights: you may cancel before the policy starts, and within the first 14 days for policies lasting more than 30 days, with a refund of the unused premium. Complaints go to Generali's Claims & Complaints Service, then the DGSFP. Law & jurisdiction: Spanish law, before the courts of the Insured's domicile in Spain.
