Nerja is one of the most attractive towns on the Costa del Sol and has retained more of its traditional character than its larger neighbours. Community sizes tend to be smaller — many 10–30 unit blocks rather than the 100+ unit complexes found in Fuengirola or Benalmádena. Professional gestora administration is less common and many Nerja communities are self-administered by the community president.

Generali Comunidad covers all Nerja comunidades de propietarios for fire, storm, daños por agua, civil liability and the Consorcio gateway for extraordinary natural events. Community insurance does NOT cover individual apartments — each owner needs their own seguro de hogar.

Community Insurance Nerja — Local Considerations

• Smaller community sizes: many Nerja blocks have 10–25 units; premiums are correspondingly lower; self-administered communities are common and Turner Insurance can deal directly with the community president.
• Balcón de Europa area: high tourist density increases civil liability risk in communal areas, even in smaller blocks; civil liability cover is important.
• Hillside retaining walls: communities above Nerja may have communal retaining walls holding back hillside gardens; these must be declared as communal assets and kept under regular structural review.
• Burriana and beach-area blocks: salt-air exposure affects older buildings; seafront facades may need higher per-m² rebuild valuations.
