Turner Insurance Specialists has been part of the Javea community for over a decade. We are proud sponsors of two important local causes: the Friends of the Children of EMAÚS (since 2018), and — every year from 2017 until the club's closure in 2024 — the Javea Green Bowls Club.
Why Community Sponsorship Matters
Insurance is, on the surface, a transactional business. People come to a broker because they need a policy. Sometimes the relationship lasts decades — many of our oldest clients first walked into our Javea office well over a decade ago, and we still handle their cars, homes, and increasingly the policies of their children and grandchildren who have moved out to join them.
What makes this work for the long term — beyond competitive premiums and quick claims handling — is being part of the actual community. Not just present in it, but contributing to it. For us that has meant supporting two local causes consistently: the Friends of the Children of EMAÚS, which we have sponsored via the Javea Christmas Fayres every year since 2018; and, until its closure in 2024, the Javea Green Bowls Club at the Inn on the Green, where we sponsored the annual championship every year from 2017.
Friends of the Children of EMAÚS
Friends of the Children of EMAÚS
The Friends of the Children of EMAÚS is a registered Spanish charity (charity number G-54138805) operating across the Northern Costa Blanca. It exists for one purpose: to raise additional funds for children in the care of EMAÚS, the long-established children's-shelter association founded in Altea in 1979 by Francisco Nadal.
EMAÚS now operates nine children's shelters across the Costa Blanca region, caring for around 90 children aged between 2 and 18 — children placed in care by Spanish social services because of impossible family circumstances or, in some cases, no family at all. The shelters are run as family units, each with qualified social workers specialising in sociology, special-needs teaching, and child psychology. While EMAÚS receives core funding from the Generalitat Valenciana, that funding has never been enough — and the Friends of the Children of EMAÚS exists specifically to bridge that gap.
Turner Insurance Specialists has been a sponsor of the annual Christmas Fayres in Javea since 2018 — the principal fundraising event for the Friends of the Children of EMAÚS. The two annual fayres bring together more than 90 stallholders across two Sundays each November at a venue in Javea, with all proceeds going directly to the charity. The 2024 fayres raised over €6,600 for the children of EMAÚS — a meaningful uplift on the previous year's total.
Our sponsorship contributes to the fixed costs of running the fayres — venue, printing, advertising — so that more of the public's contributions go directly to the charity. We are pleased to share the sponsor list with other local Javea businesses including Scorchio (relocation and translation), Lumon (currency exchange), Mariposa Energía (solar), and Ale Hop (the 2,000 paper shopping bags handed out at the door).

Javea Green Bowls Club — 2017 to 2024
Javea Green Bowls Club at the Inn on the Green
From 2017 through to its closure in 2024, Turner Insurance Specialists was the championship sponsor of the Javea Green Bowls Club at the Inn on the Green — a privately-owned bowls green between Benitachell and Javea, with nine rinks and over 150 members at its peak. The club drew its membership largely from the British, Irish, Northern European and Australian expat communities of the Marina Alta, and was for almost two decades one of the most active expat sporting communities on the northern Costa Blanca.
Andrew Turner attended each year's prize-giving in person, presenting the trophies and the prize money for the semi-finalists, runners-up and champions, alongside an annual fuel-voucher prize draw open to all participating players. The club's closure in 2024 was a loss to the expat sporting community on the northern Costa Blanca. The 2017–2024 sponsorship is now an archived chapter of our community involvement, but a meaningful one: it represents the kind of multi-year, named-individual, in-person sponsorship that small local businesses in Javea contribute to community life every year, with very little fanfare and no expectation of return.

Beyond the two principal sponsorships above, Turner Insurance Specialists has been an active part of the Javea business community for over a decade. We are members of the Spanish Direccion General de Seguros under registry C0467B54657010, and have been an authorised exclusive agent for Generali Spain since the 2024 acquisition of Liberty Seguros (and for Liberty itself before that). We have hosted client events at the Javea office, partnered informally with local solicitors, gestores and immigration advisers across the Marina Alta, and been listed in the Javea community guides on JaveaOnline24 and Costa Blanca Guides for many years.
